ABOUT US
The Full Story
Community for Veteran Families was born from a deeply personal place. Our founder grew up in a military family whose service spans generations - and knows firsthand the sacrifice that military life demands, not just from the service member, but from every person who loves them. That lived experience is the foundation of everything CVF does.
What began as a personal mission to help veteran families in the San Antonio area has grown into a woman-owned 501(c)(3) nonprofit serving veterans, military families, caregivers, and Gold Star families across South Texas. We are based in Seguin, Texas and serve families across the San Antonio surrounding area including Guadalupe, Comal, and Bexar counties - and wherever the need calls us.
Who We Serve
CVF serves the full spectrum of the military-connected community - post-9/11 veterans, transitioning service members, military spouses and dependents, caregivers, and Gold Star families who have lost a loved one in military service. The majority of the families we serve are low- to moderate-income and face significant barriers to stability after military service ends.
What We Do
We believe that those who served this country deserve more than gratitude. They deserve action. CVF provides:
- Direct emergency financial assistance for rent, utilities, food, and basic household needs
- Navigation and connection to VA benefits and community resources
- Our Adopt a Grave program - sponsoring remembrance wreaths at San Antonio National Cemetery and beyond, ensuring our fallen heroes are never forgotten
- Community memorial events that honor veterans and strengthen bonds among military families
- No Veteran Left Behind - our bi-weekly wellness check and connection program ensuring no veteran in our community is isolated or without support
CVF is proudly based in Seguin, Texas and serves veteran families in San Antonio, Guadalupe County, Comal County, and Bexar County. We are best known in the San Antonio community for our Adopt a Grave program at San Antonio National Cemetery — one of the oldest national cemeteries in Texas — where we coordinate veteran wreaths and remembrance ceremonies each December as part of Wreaths Across America.
How We Operate
CVF is a fully volunteer-run organization with zero paid staff. Every dollar donated goes directly to the families we serve. We operate lean, we move fast, and we show up - because when a veteran family is in crisis, there is no time to waste.
Our Mission
Supporting Families. Strengthening Community. Honoring Service.
We will never stop showing up for the families who showed up for all of us.
